Developing Training Field Manual

The world is changing and so is the world of learning and development. This 'wiki' is intended to be a ‘field-book’ or ‘manual’ for trainers who are supporting changing organisations into the future. This document is not a how-to manual although such insights may be in evidence. Rather, it provides the next generation with ideas and approaches to their own practice drawn from the inquiry of others .

It is a participative space where ICTI members can chip in with their own perspective, suggest areas and topics to be added or correct errors and update with more recent ideas and practice.

Safeguarding vulnerable adults and young people

The care and protection of those we work with is always important. No trainer or training agency will ignore its moral and legal duties to those it works with regardless of age or special need.

It is, though, important to give extra attention to the care and protection of children and young adults as well as those who can be identified as being vulnerable to abuse or external improper influence.

The Institute's Code of Professional Practice underlines this noting that members will:

Pay proper regard to the safety and well-being of those personnel within their responsibility or sphere of influence.

Refrain from working in any way or relationship that might place the Member at risk of accusation of inappropriate behaviour towards individuals of any sex.  In particular Members will avoid situations in which someone else might misinterpret their actions - especially when working with younger people.

Different legal requirements apply in different nations and in some countries there is a well established safeguarding process which members will be obliged to comply with. In others it is for the individual trainer to develop their own means of protecting anyone they are working with who might be considered vulnerable.

Regardless of the legal position, members of the Institute will work to the highest standards and will seek to establish procedures with reference to the best practice that they are aware of.
